This design balances the structural clarity of straight lines
with the organic flow of curves,
using negative space to achieve simplicity and efficiency.
WHY
ENTRYWAY
Table?

Entryway tables collect objects of varying sizes.

Storage and form must be designed together.

An entryway console table should not only be visually refined,
but thoughtfully structured to support daily objects and routines.
USER EXPERIENCE
Problem Observed in Existing Designs
Many console tables emphasize appearance over storage.
DESIGN GOALS
The goal was to design an entryway console table that balances visual clarity,
functional storage, and everyday usability within a minimal form.

Exploration
During the initial design phase, 15 rough sketches were created to explore a wide range of formal possibilities.
At this stage, the focus was placed on form, proportion, and overall structure rather than functionality, allowing the design to remain open and exploratory.
From these studies, two design directions were selected based on their formal clarity and development potential.

Based on the selected design direction, the final CAD model was completed by refining proportions, structure,
and surface transitions.
At this stage, emphasis was placed on ensuring that individual components read as a unified structure, rather than separate elements,
with a focus on clarity of form and overall balance.
FABRICATION PROCESS

Material Selection — Maple
Maple wood was carefully selected by evaluating grain direction and pattern
to achieve the desired visual consistency.
Material Preparation & Cutting
After preparing the selected wood,
each piece was precisely cut based on the predefined Component Drawings,
allowing the fabrication process to follow a controlled and repeatable structure.

Joinery — Domino Connections
Domino joinery was used for both the top and leg components
to ensure strength and alignment.
